Age is Beauty

My next urban intervention.
Age is beauty

Holy shit tomorrow is going to be crazy since I really haven’t done almost anything on my google maps project. I decided to not include the bathroom scrawl graffiti because I just didn’t really like how it looked and it wasn’t well planned.

Anyway, the photocopies pictured above are going to be pasted up next to a plastic surgery store front on granville street that has a naked man and woman and reads ” feel good naked.”

I like the look of the photocopies.

I am going to have to be cat burglar sneaky to pull this off.

That is all.

Edit: I found a lovely poster glue recipe using cornstarch and water that I want to share with those of you that have been inspired to start postering:

Vinyl die cut change up + Map project ideas

So yesterday I learned that next week the little homeless houses will be gone, unfortunately that means that I can’t stick my vinyl die cut on the front of one of them.. Fortunately I have done a little quick brainstorming and have come up with an idea for a new vinyl die cut and an idea for my google map project.

My new vinyl die cut is going to the sentence “you are loved.” in large letters on a big white wall in the cafe at Emily Carr. I figured that perhaps with Val’s day coming up I should promote something a bit more positive, and it can serve as decoration for the val day cabaret that I’m helping out with (I’ll be in the kissing booth, haha!)

My google maps idea is to do urban interventions around Vancouver and then map them out on document them using google maps. My vinyl die cut will be one of my urban interventions but I will also do others (hopefully a decent amount) in a variety of forms and I might do some of the assignments from learning to love you more.

Another interesting idea for mapping here.

Student Housing?

My idea for the vinyl  die cut project:

Student housing?

I’m wondering if it’s too simple? I mean, I do want to make a statement about the student housing situation on Granville island, I just am worried that basic text is too boring and perhaps I should think about condensing my ideas into a picture of some sort..

I also would like to do a project about pushing the city to get rid of all the parking garages and parking lots on the island and having a sort of a shuttle system put into play instead and then using some of the newly freed up space on the island as student housing and studio space, but I’m not quite sure if I can work that into this project or if that is a project for another day. Probably another day.

Ha, sometimes my projects/ideas are a tiny bit ambitious..

Parasite Train Projector

Thinking about urban intervention, I remembered this really cool train projector project that I stumbled upon a while  by Frédéric Eyl, Gunnar Green and Richard The . The basic idea is that they stick a projector onto the side of a subway train and then it projects surreal imagery onto the tunnel walls.  I thought I’d share:
